By prioritizing our own well-being, we aim to better inspire and serve our patients and build a healthier community.
The Classroom
Our Classroom sessions focused on the hottest topics in longevity medicine today, featuring insights from renowned experts.
Mitochondrial Power: Optimizing Gut, Skin, and Muscle Health
Anurag Singh, MD; Neil Paulvin, DO; Frank Lipman, MD; and Poonam Desai, DO took a deep dive into mitochondrial health—a crucial factor in aging. The key assumption? Older individuals and those with chronic diseases often have poor mitochondrial health. The discussion highlighted how mitochondrial dysfunction is common in long COVID, chronic diseases, and even exacerbated by certain medications. Diagnosis remains challenging, often relying on clinical insight over lab tests. Genetic insights could help identify cellular pathway issues, while supplements like Urolithin A and CoQ10 are emerging as effective tools to boost mitochondrial function. Personalized medicine is key, with lifestyle interventions like exercise, fasting, and gut health optimization being the cornerstones of treatment.
Peptides & NAD: Miracle Molecules or Overhyped?
Elizabeth Yurth, MD, captivated the audience with her balanced perspective on peptides and NAD. The central message? More isn’t always better. Homeostasis—a balanced internal environment—is the secret to optimal health. Dr. Yurth emphasized that while NAD is critical for cell function, over-supplementation can lead to unintended issues. Balance is key: use NAD during stress states and focus on regulating enzymes like CD38 and NNMT. Peptides like CJC, BPC, TB4, and TA1 were also discussed as gentle yet effective interventions for promoting mitochondrial biogenesis and reducing inflammation.
Men’s Health & Testosterone: Rethinking Therapy for Younger Patients
Dr. Tracy Gapin, Dr. Desmond Ebanks, and Shalin Shah explored the role of testosterone in health, particularly for those over 40. Testosterone is vital for cardiovascular health, bone density, and overall vitality—yet it remains underutilized in preventive health strategies. The discussion tackled misconceptions about testosterone and prostate health, emphasizing that low testosterone is not necessarily linked to increased prostate cancer risk. Attendees learned about newer oral therapies for testosterone and the importance of individualized treatment plans.
Heart Disease: Should It Be Our Top Longevity Priority?
Giovanni Campanile, MD; Abid Husain, MD discussed the importance of early detection and prevention of heart disease, the leading cause of death globally. They highlighted advancements in technology like AI-driven imaging tools (CLEERLY and HeartFlow) to visualize plaque and assess risks beyond traditional cholesterol markers. Gender-specific approaches and emerging medications are paving the way for more personalized preventive cardiology.
Long Haul COVID: Are We Ready to Tackle Protocols and Treatments?
Robin Rose, DO discussed the complexities of long COVID, including its prevalence, pathophysiology, and long-term effects. The session covered the role of spike protein, immune dysregulation, and potential treatment strategies, emphasizing the need for continued research and comprehensive approaches.
Women’s Health: Should We Fear HRT, or Is It a Key to Longevity?
Amy Killen, MD; Vonda Wright, MD; Felice Gersh, MD; Florence Comite, MD discussed the benefits and challenges of hormone replacement therapy (HRT) for women post-menopause. They emphasized estrogen's role in preventing bone loss and maintaining musculoskeletal health, the importance of personalized therapy involving progesterone and testosterone, and the safety considerations for women with a history of breast cancer. The session underscored that HRT, when used appropriately, can significantly enhance quality of life and prevent severe health outcomes.
Stem Cells: From Research to Reality
Steven Murphy, MD; Mattias Bernow, MD; Rikin Patel, DO provided insights into mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) and their clinical applications. They discussed the anti-inflammatory, regenerative, and immunomodulatory properties of MSCs, which have been used in various clinical trials for conditions such as chronic inflammation, tissue regeneration, and autoimmune balancing. The session emphasized the importance of regulatory compliance, GMP standards, and ongoing research into combining MSCs with other therapies to enhance outcomes and make stem cell therapies more accessible.
Plasmapheresis & HBOT: Cutting-Edge Therapies Worth Exploring
The panel featuring Jonathann Kuo, MD; Alan Katz, MD; and Dobri Kiprov, MD covered plasmapheresis and hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT), two FDA-approved therapies that show promise in longevity applications. Plasmapheresis is now being explored for its potential anti-aging effects, including plasma exchange for Alzheimer's patients. HBOT was highlighted for its ability to improve tissue regeneration and cognitive function. Both therapies hold potential, but further research is needed to understand their full impact.
The Mastermind From Crisis to 48 Franchises
In an intimate fireside conversation, Dr. Darshan Shah and Dr. David Luu shared their journey from facing crises to building a network of 48 franchises. His key advice? Don’t take investor money unless absolutely necessary, avoid getting bogged down by a board, focus on doing one thing exceptionally well before scaling, and diversify offerings only once you’ve nailed your product-market fit. Trust your instincts and fight for your vision—a message that resonated deeply with everyone in the room.
The Boardroom
The Boardroom offered a space for in-depth discussions on the business side of longevity clinics. From growth strategies to career pivots, participants explored ways to redefine the industry.
Grow Your Clinic—Fundraise, Acquire, or Exit?
Led by Roy Bejarano from Scale Healthcare, the Boardroom session offered strategic insights for clinic growth. Attendees were encouraged to set ambitious revenue goals—if aiming for $1 million, think $10 million. The session highlighted the importance of doubling down on successful products or services rather than prematurely diversifying. The message was clear: refine and perfect what works before moving on to new ventures. For those considering fundraising, acquisition, or exit strategies, careful planning and a well-defined growth trajectory are essential.
Are Doctors the New Influencers?
Amy Killen, MD; Vonda Wright, MD; Catherine Johnson, MD; and Poonam Desai, DO discussed how physicians can harness social media to expand their influence. The key takeaway? Every doctor has a different motivation—whether it’s revenue, education, attracting more clients, or establishing authority.
