Peptides Masters • Lithium and Alzheimer • Oral GP1s • CGMs war
Issue 57: The front page of longevity medicine - curated by doctors, for doctors.
Hey Doc,
Back in New York City, it feels good to be home. Every Sunday, I’m amazed by the new conversations, products, companies, and conferences popping up in the longevity space. It seems like everything is becoming “longevity.” And honestly, I think that’s a blessing, seeing so much interest in health and well-being.
I remember the days when we had to preach that prevention was a good thing (makes me feel old). Now, running, lifting, tracking biomarkers, and competing to master your health is the cool thing to do. This is a cultural revolution, and I’m grateful to witness it in my lifetime.
In this week newsletter:

Healthy Sunday!
Meet the Docs Speaking at the Peptides Mastermind
Most physicians have heard of peptides, often from two extremes:
Conservative skepticism, where evidence is seen as limited or anecdotal.
The wild west, with social media influencers and online platforms selling unregulated “research peptides” directly to consumers.
For practicing doctors, this creates a daily gap:
Between what patients are asking for and what’s taught in formal training.
Between cutting-edge science and safe, evidence-based protocols.
That’s why we’re bringing together the physicians who study, research, prescribe, and teach about peptides, so you can learn directly from the best how peptides can transform your practice, improve patient outcomes, and keep you at the forefront of modern medicine.
Become Peptides Smart.

I have a few patients who have asked: Does anyone recommend a clinic or a wellness center one can visit for a long weekend vacation? Can get MRI, labs, etc? In the US and international?
Sha Wellness
Zem Altea, Very close to Sha Wellness in Altea, Spain
Clinique La Prairie
Minus the total body MRI (which has not achieved adequate evidence) and focused on protocols based on over 100 published peer review papers, consider the Pritikin Longevity (aka Wellness) Center - but minimum one week for evidence based critical mass of any odds of real impact, two weeks even better - the education is as important as the medical visits and testing.
I haven’t been there since 2008 so I cannot vouch for the current staff but as far as a model that is now 50 years in evolution, it has been well vetted, thought focused on a level of proven evidence that some people wish to take the chance to push beyond. It’s a personal choice.
Hear Le Prairie has upped its game. But can’t imagine better than Lanserhof for high end high tech medical spa. But need 7 days. For long weekend, MA Canyon Ranch: could also stay there and go down the street to UltraWellness. But glad to hear above that some of our members offer this 3-4 day service now !
Curious to find out what Le Praire cellular treatment is. Does anybody know?
Which CGM do people like best? Affordable, accurate? For patients whose don’t meet requirements for coverage
I’ve used dexcom 4or 5. Generally works well, sensor lasts 10 days. In about 20% of patients the numbers don’t correlate well with lab values
I used Abbott lingo for about six months and then switched to Dexcom Stelo since it integrates with Oura ring. Lingo seemed more accurate. After switching to Stelo my numbers were consistently 20 points higher. I confirmed this with glucometer. I plan to try Stelo in different locations on the back of the arm. It may be related to not enough subcutaneous fat in certain areas.
Lingo hands down. You can now integrate into Apple health as well
I still think Abbott Free Style G3 is good, accurate and discrete.
In the UK I use Dexcom One+ with our clients on our metabolic reset programme.
Get 40 days worth of monitoring for £136. They have a half decent clinician dashboard to remotely track readings and analyse.
Although I haven’t played around with many others so would be interesting to hear others experiences…
I have had same experience with Stelo. Glucose measured high compared to glucometer and free style. Wore both at the same time! I do like that it integrates with Oura, but I don't like that you can't do a spot check on your glucose with your phone like FreeStyle Libre. In general, the free style Libre has been most accurate, and I can really hone in on the glucose better. With good rx, it's about 99 for 2, so a little pricer than Stelo, but lots of people's insurance covers.
Just had a patient tell me her health coach started her on different peptides. How do health coaches get to distribute peptides??
Because they have nothing to lose and everything to gain. Think about; no Medmal coverage. No medical license. Close up their LLC and walk away.
Exactly and because they’re not “medicines” they are not prescribing to treat anything
Yup 👍🏾 but we have to be careful how we position that because everything we do is in the practice of medicine. Sad state of affairs. Peptide challenges are worse than the stem cell challenges imo at this point

Lithium deficiency and the onset of Alzheimer’s disease
Endogenous lithium appears to play a protective role in brain aging, with its depletion emerging as an early event in Alzheimer’s disease. In both humans and mice, reduced brain lithium—worsened in Alzheimer’s by amyloid sequestration—was linked to increased amyloid-β and phospho-tau accumulation, neuroinflammation, loss of synapses and myelin, and accelerated cognitive decline. Restoring lithium levels, particularly with amyloid-resistant lithium orotate, prevented these pathological changes and preserved memory, highlighting lithium homeostasis as a potential early intervention target for Alzheimer’s prevention and treatment.
