Buzz In the Chat: Real-World-Evidence registry needed for longevity medicine
Doc 1: our office did a little mini study using laser activated VSELs.
Doc 2: wouldn’t it be great if we could have these studies in registries we could publish?
Doc 3: we can create some document that covered a wide variety of protocols interventions and people could at least add their experiences. Protocols, devices and equipment choices. Then if there is a particular protocol we think needs further vetting in isolation we cab crowd share testing it out.
Doc 4: Collecting protocols is not enough, we need to measure clinical outcomes to be relevant.
At least 10 physicians are willing to participate in a RWE registry o centralize protocols, interventions, and outcomes.
🩺 Research Scoop
The link between Niacin and Cardiovascular Risks
The terminal breakdown products of excess niacin, 2PY and 4PY, are both associated with residual CVD risk. They also suggest an inflammation-dependent mechanism underlying the clinical association between 4PY and MACE. Link
Leaky blood–brain barrier and COVID-induced brain fog
Using dynamic contrast-enhanced magnetic resonance imaging, we show BBB disruption in patients with long COVID-associated brain fog. Transcriptomic analysis of peripheral blood mononuclear cells revealed dysregulation of the coagulation system and a dampened adaptive immune response in individuals with brain fog. Link
Combatting Long COVID with Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy
A large cohort of patients suffer from long COVID or post-COVID-19 syndrome after recovery from their acute infection with no effective treatment options. HBO is a safe treatment and may provide benefit for this population and should continue to be researched for adjunctive treatment of long COVID. Link
Causality-Infused Epigenetic Clocks
Biological age but often lack causal insights harvard team established a new framework to introduce causal information into epigenetic clocks, resulting in DamAge and AdaptAge—clocks that track detrimental and adaptive methylation changes. Link
