Tai Chi better than Aerobic Exercise for Prehypertension?
In this study including patients with prehypertension, a 12-month Tai Chi intervention was more effective than aerobic exercise in reducing SBP. These findings suggest that Tai Chi may help promote the prevention of cardiovascular disease in populations with prehypertension.

Biomarkers of aging
The search for 'omic'-based biomarkers to measure biological aging is intensifying, with the goal of using these markers to predict aging-related health outcomes and assess anti-aging interventions. However, there's no consensus yet on how to validate these biomarkers for clinical use. This update highlights the efforts to validate aging biomarkers, the challenges faced, and offers guidance for their future validation. Our focus is on accelerating their clinical adoption to improve aging and longevity treatments.

Buzz in the Chat: Lp(a)
Article about Harvard cardiologist Michael Gibson and his elevated Lp(a)
Lp(a) getting a lot of attention these days - maybe because drug companies are getting ready to get approved for therapies that lower it?
Lp(a) is something I test on all of our patients. There are a number of patients with relatively normal lipid profiles but high Lp(a) that have vascular disease and or aortic valve calcification/stenosis. PCSK9 inhibitors and Niacin can lower Lp(a) about 25-30%. Best we have until the new drugs come out.
I think most of us all check lp(a) . But still surprisingly not mainstream despite the raised awareness!!
It’s amazing how many cardiologists I talk with who don’t check it
I would say most! And really its the primary care docs that need to be since most people dont see a cardiologist til something wrong!!
