Announcing the Longevity Docs Institute | Plasmalogenes, C15:0 deficiency
Your sneak peek into the world of Longevity Docs.
Hey Doc, do you remember the day you swore the Hippocratic Oath?
As physicians, we have a responsibility, inspired by Hippocrates, the Father of Medicine, who laid the scientific foundation for medicine 2,400 years ago, freeing it from superstition and philosophy.
Today, in this exciting era of Longevity Medicine, we must ensure we protect patients and uphold the key principles of the Hippocratic Oath: prioritizing patient safety, maintaining integrity in our work, and sharing knowledge with future generations.
Our mission has shifted from just treating the sick to improving everyone's healthspan.
Imagine a world where innovative tests, treatments, and procedures are proven safe and cost-efficient for each patient without decades of research.
That's why we created the Longevity Docs Institute—a physician-led, decentralized research platform enabling real-world evidence and N-of-1 research for all physicians.
Welcome to the era of precision longevity medicine.

Have you ever heard of C15:0 deficiency?
I was very skeptical of fatty 15 when I first heard of them. I thought it was a gimmick. But then I went to see my integrative cardiologist and he told me he's been seeing patients have lower cholesterol on it. I just finished my first bottle. I plan to do follow-up blood tests in a couple weeks to see if it actually has any impact on my blood lipids
Dr Goodenowe who is one of the smartest lipid biochemists I know is not a believer in pentadecanoic acid as anything essential. Hard to figure this all out!!! C17 maybe better but 🤷♂️. I've been using it in myself and my patients at all sorts of doses since they first came out cause i was really compelled by Stephanie'sresearch. Don't know if I have seen much marked changes, is pricey. At this point I don't know the answer
I tried plasmalogens from Prodrome at high doses for a couple months. I tried both kinds. It had no effect on anything I could easily measure or feel.
I use lots of plasmalogens. Game changer in your neuro patients. I notice my vision is better with high dose glia
I know you’ve been a proponent of Fatty 15. May I ask what changed?
I'm still using and recommending for now. But like everything I do, when I get new info I have to rethink. I don't yet know the answer here. Have to spend more time researching it and getting info. The hard thing about our world!! Gotta keep learning and changing!!
Yeah. I can't say that I have ever taken a supplement that I found to be a game changer in my life. I do lots of things... like plasmalogens to prevent future problems
Love that, I think exactly the same! Something that people struggle to integrate… prevention and optimization…
What specifically are you hoping to prevent?
Cognitive decline, brain volume loss, sarcopenia, vision and hearing deterioration
Fascinating-/ what measures have you seen since introducing?
Increased brain volume on functional mri on plasmalogens... which dr Goodenowe has lots of evidence of. Pretty impressive

Ezetimibe lowers risk of Alzheimer’s and Related Dementias over 7-fold, reducing aggregation in model systems by inhibiting 14-3-3G::hexokinase interaction
These results suggest that drug disruption of the 14-3-3G::HK1 interface blocks an early “lynchpin” adhesion, prospectively reducing aggregate accrual and progression of Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias.

Clinical utility of plasma Aβ42/40 ratio by LC-MS/MS in Alzheimer’s disease assessment
High-throughput plasma Aβ42/40 LC-MS/MS assays can help identify patients with low likelihood of AD pathology, which can reduce PET evaluations, allowing for cost savings.

Higher Magnesium Depletion Score Increases the Risk of All-cause and Cardiovascular Mortality in Hypertension Participants
Higher MDS levels independently predict an elevated risk of mortality among US adults with HTN. Therefore, MDS may serve as a cost-effective and widely available prognostic marker for HTN.

The Lipid Energy Model: Reimagining Lipoprotein Function in the Context of Carbohydrate-Restricted Diets
The Lipid Energy Model (LEM) attempts to explain this metabolic phenomenon by positing that, with carbohydrate restriction in lean persons, the increased dependence on fat as a metabolic substrate drives increased hepatic secretion and peripheral uptake of TG contained within very low-density lipoproteins (VLDL) by lipoprotein lipase, resulting in marked elevations of LDL-C and HDL-C, and low TG.

Testing the amount of nicotinamide mononucleotide and urolithin A as compared to the label claim
Here, Nicotinamide mononucleotide and Urolithin A supplements, easily accessible online or in pharmacies, were tested for their active ingredient content. Results showed a significant deviation from the labeled amounts, ranging from + 28.6% to -100%. This indicates a considerable disparity in the quality of geroprotective supplements.
